There are many early signs of arthritis. There are also many different types of arthritis, and sometimes depending on the type of arthritis you have, some of the early signs may be a bit different. Five of the most common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, and even lupus. Some of the early warning signs may be a little similar in nature.
When it comes to rheumatoid arthritis, fatigue, slight fever, weight loss, stiffness, joint tenderness, and joint pain are some of the earliest signs you will experience. Joint swelling and joint redness are also some early warning signs that may be noticeable. Anytime one is experiencing early warning signs, it is a good thing to check with your doctor before it progresses. Sometimes they may relate to how a person feels overall.
All of the different types of arthritis have one thing in common and that is a pain in the joint. This may be the most common early warning sign that is noticed in any type of arthritis. When it comes to osteoarthritis, pain, stiffness, tenderness, loss of flexibility, bone spurs, and swelling may be noticed early on. Osteoarthritis mostly affects a person’s arms and legs.
Pitted nails, swollen finger or toes, nail separation, lower back pain, and even eye inflammation are some of the earliest warning signs of psoriatic arthritis. Most people actually develop psoriasis first before they are actually diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. Joint swelling and pain are also noticeable as early warning signs of psoriatic arthritis.
Lupus is another form of arthritis. The early warning signs of lupus are fever, fatigue, joint pain, stiffness, skin lesions, and even butterfly-shaped rashes on the face. Lupus arthritis is caused by wear and tear of the body’s joints or by inflammation. Lupus can cause damage in the joints and cause problems even when there are no current flare-ups.
Gout arthritis is caused by excess uric acid within the bloodstream. Some of the early warning signs of gout can include intense joint pain, lingering discomfort, inflammation and redness, and even a limited range of motion. Some types when an attack is starting to happen, many people will know because they will feel burning and even itching in a joint anywhere from 1 to 2 hours before a flare-up.
As you can see all of the above different types of arthritis have similar warning signs, as well as unique warning signs. Regardless, you should take heed once these warning signs come along because they do entail that something could possibly be wrong.
